An evening of
English Choral Music
Join us for an evening of music by some of England's finest composers through the ages. The choir will perform music by Byrd, Tallis, Purcell, Holst, Vaughan Williams and
Britten to name but a few.
The concert will feature Requiem by Herbert Howells. This work was composed in the early 1930's and was originally intended for the choir of King’s College, Cambridge. For some reason the music was never sent to King’s, and its existence remained unknown until its eventual publication in 1980, only three years before the composer’s own death. The music is harmonious and deeply Romantic and we are sure that you will enjoy listening as much as the choir enjoy
singing this moving piece of music.
